After just two months on the market, the Malibu home of late Univision billionaire Jerry Perenchio has just been swept up for $6.8 million.
The 1941-built beach cottage in the Malibu Colony was listed for $5.495 million, but since the home is set on such a large plot of nearly a third of an acre, it’s not too much of a surprise that it sold far above its ask.
The one-bedroom, one-bathroom house is set behind brick gates and among lush manicured gardens and mature trees. There’s also a separate guest house and a detached two-car garage.
While the cottage is charming with a brick fireplace in the living room and a covered porch running the length of the house, the property is also ideal for expansion if the cottage and detached guest house don’t provide enough space for the new owner. But the traditional cottage is very rich in charm, and the brick and fieldstone property accents marvelous.
Perenchio, who served as the chief executive and chairman of Univision, died in May. His main home in Bel-Air—a 10.3-acre French neoclassical mansion—is still on the market for $350 million.
