After Listing in Bel-Air, Serena Williams Closes on $6.7M Beverly Hills 5-Bed

A little more than a week ago, tennis wunderkind Serena Williams listed her extensively revised 1930’s home in Bel-Air for sale at $11.995 million. A few days before that, it turns out, Williams closed on a similarly sized, but brand-spanking new house in Beverly Hills, paying $6.68 million for the property.

While Williams’ now past-tense residence sported traditional architecture with a dash of moderne, her very, very new house is a modern Mediterranean with Italian and Spanish design cues. It measures 6,000 square feet, and features an interior layout that presents much better flow than the outgoing house: on the first floor, for example, the kitchen is placed on a step-up tier, with other living spaces falling down and away from it.

Currently, the home is dressed in new-house white, a blank canvas awaiting an owner’s imagination. Blanched hardwood floors in matte finish run throughout much of the home, and the overall effect in many rooms could be described as gossamer.

Windows throughout the smart home are simple steel-framed units finished flat black, and materials look to be well-chosen, with wood, tile, and natural stone accents lending a little grounding influence. Amenities include a home theater, fitness center, wine cellar and wet bar, and guest or maid’s quarters.

The property exterior manages to incorporate some landscaping that does a little smoke-and-mirrors with the lot size, and a kidney pool with fountain features.

Serena Williams is currently marketing her own line of women’s fashions. She and fiancé Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, are also busy with their new addition to the family.
