Luxury German automaker Audi has introduced the second generation of its A7 for 2019.
The Audi A7 received quite the upgrade; the model is now closer to the A8 than the A6 in terms of style and performance. The upmarket move of the A7 is right in line with competitor BMW’s incoming model, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe.
Designed with a larger single-frame grille, angular Matrix LED lighting, and a sculpted hood, the new Audi presents a more masculine and aggressive build than the outgoing model. The back of the car continues this design trend with Matrix OLED taillights, and an expansive light bar spanning the length of the rear.
The new sedan boasts a sleek and stylish interior as well with a modern, high-tech appeal thanks to a dual touchscreen infotainment setup.
To start, Audi will offer two different V6 engine options, including a traditional 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel TDI engine and a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 gas engine. The gas version features the same engine as the Audi S4, and it’s powerful, making the zero-to-60 mph leap in a very respectable 5.3 seconds.
Of course, as part of Audi’s new integration of hybrid technology, each A7 will be a MHEV—Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle—equipped with an electric motor that enables the engine to shut down during coasting, all with the goal of reducing emissions and increasing time between fill-ups.
The Audi A7 will go on sale starting in February 2018; U.S. pricing has yet to be announced.
