Just in time to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Kindle’s first e-reader, Amazon is introducing a special waterproof Kindle. Perfect for the beach or a relaxing bathtub read, the Kindle Oasis E-Reader has an IPX8 waterproof rating and is rugged enough to handle encounters with water without interrupting the flow of a good narrative.
Offering a waterproof device seems like a natural evolution for the popular e-reader, a favorite accessory for vacation and leisure time. And Kindle technology has come a long way since the first iteration of the product, and the unit boasts a few key updates along with a more contemporary look.
The Oasis features the company’s biggest and highest-resolution Paperwhite display: a full 7 inch virtual page. The thin display with Paperwhite technology makes it easier than ever to read, regardless of the lighting, and cuts glare to zero.
The Oasis also boasts a special ergonomic design that guarantees comfortable reading, and can operate for several weeks without the need to recharge, a huge improvement over first generation Kindles. With a huge library of books and Audible’s expansive collection of audiobooks, bookworms will have access to everything they need, including periodicals, and even comics.
Amazon’s new Oasis e-reader is available starting at $250 for 8 GB, and may be upgraded to 32 GB.
