Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin has introduced a bold new clown timepiece. Now, you try and say that without laughing.

The Konstantin Chaykin Joker watch is a whimsical offering in a typically traditional market. Thankfully, the watch takes inspiration from “Pennywise the Dancing Clown” more than Stephen King’s popular interpretation, although, apparently, the watchmaker is a fan of the Gothic writer’s novel “It.”

Complete with a bold smiley face, the wearer will look down upon minute and hour indicators in their own sub-dials in addition to a moonphase indicator. The latter provides a cosmetic double-entendre, as well, albeit on a lunar schedule.

The unique timepiece boasts a caliber K07-0, beating at 4Hz with a power reserve of 38 hours. The automatic movement is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case with playing card suits engraved into the bezel.

Even though it would be easy for a clown watch to go terribly wrong, Konstantin Chaykin gets it right, for the right buyer. Not for the kid in ‘Poltergeist,’ though, unless he’s developed a sense of humor.

At $9,990 each, only 27 of special-edition timepieces will be made available.
