The magnificent Beverly Hills estate of late star Ann Rutherford is now available for $39.9 million.
The “Gone With the Wind” actress owned the 1938 French Revival-style home with her second husband William Dozier, who was the creator of the 1960s “Batman” series. Now known as the Rutherford House, the property is currently owned through a trust connected to mortgage expert Mark Cohen and his wife Laurie.
While Rutherford owned the home until she died in 2012, the Cohens made substantial changes, significantly expanding the now five-bedroom, 10,500-square-foot home. What truly makes the manse special is the number of architectural details like antique marble fireplaces, Ruhlmann-inspired paneling, and inlaid herringbone-pattern hardwood floors.
In addition to the striking architectural details, the estate also features an expansive living room, a library, a circular dining room with panoramic wallpaper, and a beautiful chef’s kitchen with black-and-white marble checkerboard floors and a butler’s pantry.
The master suite is worthy of note as well, featuring dual closets, dual bathrooms, and a sitting room. The roughly half-acre property incorporates an oval swimming pool, a pool house, a large terrace, a gym, and an al fresco bar.
