Photographers looking to find a compact camera with some of the same features of a DSLR will be happy to hear of the introduction of Canon‘s new G1 X Mark III.
While a true compact DSLR may still be the stuff of dreams, Canon’s newest point-and-shoot impresses with Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus and a 24-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. The Mark III is the third iteration of Canon’s G1 X; that camera came out in 2012, and was immediately hailed as one of the best performing compact cameras on the market.
The upgraded sensor is paramount here. It offers unparalleled image quality, and when paired with a Digic 7 image processing engine, the Mark III is able to shoot incredibly high-quality still and video. Photogs will also appreciate upgraded low light performance with an ISO range of 100 to 25,600.
Of course, there’s also the Dual Pixel AF technology that provides super fast and smooth autofocus capabilities, freeing photographers for the creative power needed for their best compositions. Additional features include a F2.8-5.6 zoom lens, a 2.36 million dot OLED viewfinder, Full HD video capabilities at 60 fps, a 3-inch touch display panel, and easy Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Canon’s PowerShot G1 X Mark III is available to preorder now for $1,299.
