By now you’ve heard that Apple‘s newest flagship smartphone, the iPhone X, will be available later this month. Here’s a quick look at Apple’s latest great communicator.

A first look should begin with the 5.8-inch Super Retina display and all-glass design. As expected, the upgraded device is packed with other high-tech features, including Face ID, A11 Bionic Chip with Neural Engine, Super Retina Display, and a TrueDepth Camera System.

The iPhone X’s facial recognition system demands mention. Instead of typing in a code, users will now be able to unlock the device by simply looking into the camera. The future-is-now Face ID feature uses a dot projector, flood illuminator, and infrared camera to recognize the owner’s face in a jiff. The smartphone’s 7-megapixel TrueDepth camera includes auto image stabilization, precise exposure control, and wide color capture; combined with the facial-recog system, the camera can unlock the phone or snap high-quality selfies.

The iPhone X’s 12-megapixel rear camera is advanced, too, and capable of capturing 4K video up to 60fps and 1080p slo-mo up to 240fps.

Pre-ordering for the iPhone X begins October 27. Pricing starts at $999.
