Drivers in the market for a new two-door should get ready because the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet have just debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. And they look very, very good.
While the new luxury automobiles won’t hit dealerships until mid-2018, there’s plenty to get excited about. Each two-door model will be available in S560, S63, and S65 variants.
Mercedes’ S560 debuted as the replacement for the S550. The powerful car is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Replacing the previous 4.7-liter, the more efficient engine increases the horsepower to 463. Like the previous iteration, the S560 utilizes a nine-speed automatic paired with the brand’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
The S63 underwent a similar revision, and received an AMG version of a 4.0-liter. Again, even though the engine is smaller, its considerably more efficient, and the power on tap in this case increased from 557 hp to 603 HP. Both of the S63 two-door models come with AMG’s nine-speed multi-clutch automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
Lastly, but certainly not least, is the S65. Mercedes didn’t want to tinker with a good thing, so the model is outfitted with the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 as the 2017 version. While the power output did stay the same, it’s still plenty exciting, and is connected to a seven-speed automatic.
The new Mercedes 2018 S-Class coupes and convertibles boast subtle cosmetic upgrades like new headlights, OLED taillights, and bumpers. The interiors are also decked-out with luxe materials and impressive new infotainment systems that feature the latest available tech.
Pricing for the new line has yet to be released.
