The self-sufficient ranch Debbie Reynolds owned as a retreat will be going to auction next month, and it will be joined by her former North Hollywood dance studio.

Called Freedom Ranch, the property near Creston, California was built around as an escape and grounding influence by the actress and singer. The property has been home to Reynolds’ son Todd Fisher, and base of operations for his attempted business startup Hollywood Motion Picture Experience. A film museum had also, at one time, been attempted on the site, intended to feature the film memorabilia collected by Reynolds over her lifetime.

The property includes a 7,800 square-foot main house with six bedrooms and six baths. The home’s great room incorporates a small raised stage, and other notable spaces include a screening room with tiered seating, a library with extensive built-in bookcases, and a billiards room. Floors of common living areas are, for the most part, terra-cotta tile, and pine doors and ceilings give the home a pleasantly rustic atmosphere.

The Creston property extends to over 44 acres, much of it usable, irrigated farmland. The property is equipped with a 12KW tracking solar power source and back-up generators as well.

The North Hollywood studio, the second property scheduled for auction, is a large commercial space measuring 19,000 square feet. The business was founded by Reynolds in the late 1970’s, and incorporates half a dozen studios, as well as dressing rooms, within the complex.

Reynolds, who passed away last year, is fondly remembered for her ebullient turn in ‘Singin’ in the Rain,’ and for her buoying performance in ‘The Unsinkable Molly Brown.’
