Newly Inducted NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor Rakes in $3.2M with Sale in South Florida

Former NFL star Jason Taylor finally sold his South Florida estate. The property had been on the market for 18 months; initially listed at $4.15 million, the price had been whittled down to $3.45 million prior to the sale. In the end, Taylor accepted an offer of $3.2 million for a home he paid $3.6 million for in 2006. But, then, the South Florida real estate market isn’t what it used to be.

The home is a fairly recent build, dating to 2005. It’s quite a sprawler, in the rambling Florida Mediterranean style, extending to nearly 10,200 square feet. It contains seven bedrooms and ten full or partial baths.

The home’s façade emphasizes outdoor living and an impressive sense of scale: a series of second-floor balconies present a palatial first impression.

And the interiors follow through entirely. The great room soars, with a double-height ceiling, three-sided gallery and floor-to-ceiling series windows reinforcing the idea of continuation.  Elsewhere in the home, tiered tray ceilings allow for a similar effect.

The interiors are generally Tuscan-influenced, but not very rustic; the home office or library is a notable exception, edging toward English manor-house style, with wood paneling, a coffered ceiling, and a magnificent marble fireplace with a dramatic step hearth. The home also contains a home cinema, billiards room, and combination walk-in humidor and entertainment room.

The property extends to a little more than an acre of grounds, with a freeform pool and sunlounge, tropical landscaping, lawns, and a full summer kitchen.

The bulk of Taylor’s professional career was spent playing for the Dolphins, although he spent a little time with the Redskins and the Jets as well. He is now an analyst for ESPN.
