Johnny Depp’s Kentucky estate will soon go under the gavel. Over the last year, the actor has listed numerous real estate holdings, managing to sell four of his five 12th-floor penthouses in L.A.’s historic Eastern Columbia building; next month his hobbyist’s horse farm in his home state will be auctioned off with a reserve price presumably set near the $2 million mark.

The property had been initially listed for $3.4 million, but failed to entice a buyer even after a price cut brought the asking down a half million dollars. Depp purchased it in 2005, for $2 million.

A financial quagmire has led to Depp’s real estate liquidation. His business managers recently found themselves under investigation by the IRS, SEC and U.S. Justice Department.

Ranging over 41 acres, the Fayette County property is centered by a ranch-style house that extends to nearly 6,000 square feet. Its façade is dominated by a grand, southern colonial entry, and its interiors are highlighted by an unpretentious style that culminates in a carpeted kitchen. It contains six bedroom, 6.5 baths, a wet bar, a solarium, and a pair of fireplaces.

But the land itself is the real attraction, of course. Rolling, fertile pastureland and woodland, a pair of barns with fifteen stalls, paddocks, a pool and a guest house give the property excellent escapist potential.

This year, Depp’s silver screen appearances include ‘LAbyrinth’ and a remake of ‘Murder on the Orient Express’; his fifth turn as Captain Jack in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ helped the film along to its current box-office tally of around $800 million.
