Miley Cyrus Purchases Rustic Farmhouse Near Nashville for $5.8M

Pop music star Miley Cyrus recently picked up an estate in greater Music City. Cyrus paid $5.8 million for the property, a farmhouse on substantial acreage in Franklin, Tennessee; the property had been on the market for about six months, and was priced at $5.9 million prior to the sale.

The home is a recent build dating to 2014. A down-home timber-frame farmhouse with an extended wraparound porch, the house is tasteful and far from pretentious, and exudes a self-consciously invitational quality. The level of craftsmanship exhibited by the home appears to be quite high, and rustic materials include reclaimed timber, brick, and mixed stone.

The home’s size is ideal: interior spaces measure just shy of 6,900 square feet, and there are five bedrooms and six baths throughout three levels. Spaces are suffused with period/regional atmosphere, but the composition is carried off well; although occasionally bordering on overload, it never quite loses track of its narrative. But it is very heavily stylized.

Most appealing interior design cues include the niftily ramshackle-looking blend of wood grains, textures, and finishes, often mixed up in the same surface; the effect is a pleasing sense of surprise, and carries with it the beguiling quality of a back-porch raconteur in full flower.

The property extends to over thirty-three acres of lawns and woodland. It includes a pool/spa and sunlounge, patios, and a detached structure which will, one imagines, be quickly transformed into a guest house and recording studio.

The 24-year-old Cyrus will release her sixth studio album this September; the record is called ‘Younger Now.’ September will also see her return as coach to reality/talent show ‘The Voice.’
