Within days of listing her longtime home in Brentwood, Alanis Morissette has an offer in hand. The singer/songwriter put the property on the market about a week ago with an asking price of $5.495 million. She has owned the home for about twenty years.
The house—constructed in 1951—measures a little more than 5,150 square feet, and manages to work seven bedrooms and 6.5 baths into its layout. Its façade presents a Mediterranean-based design that owes much to the Italian style.
Interiors present a home with an extremely warm atmosphere. Extensive renovations have brought a sophisticated rusticity to the spaces. Wood, tile and natural stone are used as accent motifs throughout.
The great room features a magnificent cathedral ceiling, and is bordered by a second-floor gallery; one look will tell you the room may boast extraordinary acoustical properties. The master suite is a sanctuary made up of a bedroom, office, sitting room, walk-in closet with spectacular custom cabinetry, and a pair of baths.
Morissette’s last studio album was 2012’s ‘Havoc and Bright Lights.’ Last year she began writing a general advice column for the Guardian, which is called…you guessed it…‘Ask Alanis.’
