Six-Time NBA Champ Scottie Pippen Trims Price on Chicagoland Mansion to $2.8M

Scottie Pippen waited a year to reduce the price of his mansion in Highland Park, Illinois, but this week he relisted the property with an approximately 10% reduction.

Pippen initially offered the home for sale early last summer, asking $3.1 million for it, but the relist brings the price down to $2.795 million, which will hopefully stimulate serious interest in the estate for the legendary NBA small forward, who is also currently attempting to sell a waterfront estate in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That home is priced at $11 million.

Pippen purchased the Highland Park property around the time of his retirement in 2004, paying $2.2 million. The 10,500 square foot home sits on 2.9 acres and contains five bedrooms and 5.5 baths.

Dating to 2003, the house is designed in keeping with the style of upper-end East Coast suburbia, and incorporates the usual European pretensions. The home’s stone façade is a pleasing blend of modern and period, with arches, a faux balcony, and lantern sconces.

The home’s interiors are distinguished by inlaid hardwood floors, wrought iron staircase balustrades, and a slightly haphazard blend of ceiling designs and light fixture styles. At its best, the home shows an imaginative sense of style—the concept wine storage room is a good example—and excellent craftsmanship. But that same sense of style never quite settles down into coherence.

The home contains a gym with half court, a home theater, and a large entertainment/recreation room. The property’s acreage includes a lovely tiled pool with waterslide and water feature, and nicely landscaped grounds.

Pippen’s long career with the Bulls amounted to their 1990’s heyday; he was an NBA All-Star seven times, and was voted the All-Star Most Valuable Player in 1994.
