Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder Shaun White has let go of one of his homes in greater Los Angeles. The athlete sold a property in Hollywood Hills West, accepting an offer of $6.7 million for the property. He purchased the home in 2015, for $6.4 million.
The mid-century modern home dates to 1954; partial timber siding and poured concrete walls give it contemporary sympathies. A pleasing example of the style, with the glass and geometric preoccupations one expects, but given the Southern California treatment by incorporating the pool into the design of the porch.
The house measures about 4,500 square feet, and contains five bedrooms and six baths. The living spaces are open concept, and abundant glass offers plenty of natural light. Floors are generally dark-toned hardwood, set off by the generally white walls and ceilings.
The home’s master bedroom is situated on a corner, and features glass walls which take advantage of the views offered by the home’s promontory location. Retractable glass walls are a feature of both living area and master, and in the case of the former open onto the outside deck, sunlounge, and pool.
White’s career includes three Olympic runs, and he is a perennial presence on the U.S. winter sports circuit. The ratings juggernaut is also an aspiring actor, and a musician.
