Mercedes has come out with a special E-Class All-Terrain model, but this one-off isn’t exactly what the Benz faithful might expect.

Dubbed the E-Class All Terrain 4×4², the special model is the brainchild of Mercedes engineer Jurgen Eberle, and features flared fenders, a portal axle setup, and body cladding. Other features of the one-off E-Class include a leather-wrapped interior, aluminum trim, and digital displays.

Underneath the bespoke body package is a standard E-Class All-Terrain, which is a luxury wagon with all-wheel drive. Some of the only structural upgrades are the portal axles that were borrowed from the brand’s G550 4×4². With these special axles, the ground clearance has been raised to 16.5 inches and the wading depth for crossing rivers measures in at just below 20 inches.

Powering the E-Class All-Terrain 4×4² is a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 333 horsepower and offers 354 pound-feet of twist.

While the special edition Mercedes is a one-off, the overwhelming reception may prompt Mercedes-Benz to consider a limited production run of the vehicle.
