Hall of Fame Cornerback Deion Sanders Unloads Dallas Penthouse After Eight Years

When his penthouse in downtown Dallas found a buyer late last month, Deion Sanders was coming uncomfortably close to a decade of attempting to sell the property.

The legendary professional athlete purchased the two-level apartment in the Azure in 2008 for an undisclosed sum, which public records indicate was probably in the high $3 million range. He listed it initially in late 2009 with an asking price of $7.5 million, and finally accepted an offer of $4.05 million against the last listing price of $4.5 million.

The unit spans 5,081 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Exterior walls are generally floor-to-ceiling glass, and the home is rendered in dark wood and off-white, with floors alternating between plan hardwood and tile.

With a loft-like layout, and an extremely open presentation, the duplex sustains an excellent sense of space, which is enhanced by the nearly constant views of the city from its 30th floor location. Spaces are interrupted only by a series of support pillars which are situated at intervals throughout.

The home’s kitchen is nicely executed, a blend of beige granite, dark wood and stainless situated on a corner of the building. The master bedroom is also a corner room—as expected—and the master bath is a lilting mix of marble and glass. There are three fireplaces throughout the unit.

The exterior of the property is fairly dazzling, with vertigo-inducing balconies, terraces, and an outside spiral staircase which leads up to the second level. Comprising at least 2,000 square feet of living area, the outdoor spaces feature raised plantings, a covered lounge with wet bar, and a rooftop pool.

Sanders’ professional career was poised between football and baseball. He has two Super Bowl wins to his credit, and played with the Atlanta Braves in a World Series run. He is currently an analyst for CBS and the NFL Network.
