Aston Martin recently let the automotive world have a look at its ongoing overhaul of the V8 Vantage. The model is getting its first significant update at present, and will be available in 2018. The current draft, which is pictured below, seems to reference the lovely four-wheeled bond girl featured in 2015’s ‘Spectre,’ the DB10 concept.

The car’s fascia and rear exhibit notable changes. The nose of the car appears to be more fluid, and the car may, in 2018, turn out to feature a trunk in favor of its current hatchback design.

As a slightly more affordable and even-tempered car than the raucous, quarter-million dollar DB11, the new Vantage’s AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine will, according to Aston, be tuned to about 500 horsepower, which should be more than enough to bump up the adrenaline levels now and again.

The platform used will be shorter than the DB11 but, like the DB11, made of aluminum; the car should weigh substantially less, leaving more room for the V8 to excel at what it is made to do. Aston plans to outfit the car with the same 8-speed ZF gearbox used in the current DB11. A seven-speed manual transmission may be available.

Considering the Vantage’s price point—which is not expected to leap forward dramatically—the model will remain the fleet little car which gives the Porsche 911 such a tough run for its money.

The Vantage model Aston has been in production since 2003. It has not seen a redesign since that time, sustaining only periodical revisions and annual updates until now.
