Chris Noth—known for long character runs on several prominent series, including a lead in ‘The Good Wife’—has picked up a pied-a-terre or investment property on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Noth shelled out $1.875 million for the property, a two-and-two of uncertain square footage; the property had been listed at the selling price before entering into contract, and on the market for a couple of years with a gradual reduction in asking.
The building dates to 1918, and many period touches remain. Floors are original hardwood, plank or herringbone. Crown moldings, partially exposed beams, and a whitewashed treatment define the walls and ceilings of the common living area. There are also extensive floor-to-ceiling built-ins, and a fireplace, which is finished in black; the atmosphere is fairly nostalgic. The feeling carries over into the baths, which feature period fixtures and tiling. The kitchen renovation is similarly sensitive, but a little more contemporary.
The residence has potential for the new owner. It features a good sense of space, and lighting which is adequate for the spaces. Its two bedrooms are compact, and could use a little refreshing, but the floors and ceilings have charm, and the place has a nice sense of flow.
For eight seasons, Noth played Det. Mike Logan on ‘Law and Order’ and ‘Law and Order: Criminal Intent.’ He had a lead role in 2016’s film ‘Chronically Metropolitan,’ and the lead in the upcoming series ‘Gone.’
