Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor sold his 4,300 square foot home in Beverly Hills, accepting an offer of $5.3 million for a property that had been listed with an asking price of $5.75 million; however, the ask had been raised over 20% some months before the sale. Reznor purchased the property in 2007 for $4.2 million, and had seen it on and off the market for over two years by the time a buyer stepped up to close.
The house construction dates to 1966, and is designed very much in the modern style: transparency, angularity, and an emphasis on geometry and intersection. Nary a hint of sentimentality.
The interiors are fairly striking—the livingroom is positively Kubrickian, a chilly space liberated by double-height ceilings, with segmented accents and a series of pendant lights, it wants to emphasize a sense of order, however ironically.
Although the beautiful staircase attracts the eye, there are many period touches, including minimalist fireplaces, and original floors, which reinforce the heady atmosphere of the home, and renovations have retained the spirit of the era in which it was built.
The house features a glass wall which opens from the kitchen and family room to a large outdoor dining area with bar. The property also features an infinity-edge pool, a covered deck, an outdoor staircase, and five bedrooms and four baths including the master suite, which features a generously proportioned bath.
Musician and composer Reznor still fronts NIN. He and Atticus Ross have penned scores to several David Fincher films; their score for ‘The Social Network’ earned them a collective Oscar.
