Katharine McPhee, ‘American Idol’ alum and star of the cyber-tech adventure series ‘Scorpion,’ has listed a property in Toluca Lake for sale. The actress is asking $1.55 million for the home, which she picked up in the spring of 2015 for $1.4 million.

The traditional-style home dates to 1945, and features a painted brick façade flanked by a pair of bay windows. Walkways and patios in brick surround the home.

Within, renovations have rendered the spaces with cool tones and modern angularity. Original narrow plank hardwood provides a constant throughout the house, with soft blue and grey lending a distinctive atmosphere. Cabinetry in kitchen and baths follows suit, and the motif lends the home a good sense of design vision.

There are three fireplaces throughout the house, each a minimalist statement. The kitchen contains a unique detail as a frame for that room’s fireplace: a wall finished with subway tile; the effect is enhanced by the alternate tile pattern used for the stove backsplash. Add to the equation the raw wood island, the slab marble island cap, the hardwood floors, and the stainless fixtures, and the room becomes an interesting series of rather forceful textures and patterns.

The master suite is as carefully articulated. The bedroom features a vaulted ceiling which follows the hipped roofline; a skylight has been added. The bath is floored in a hypnotic geometric pattern, and features a shower finished in subway tile and a freestanding soaking tub.

The property exterior features extensive brickwork, including a sunken patio, as well as a pool with tiled border.

McPhee’s close finish on ‘American Idol’ led to a series of studio releases from the singer/songwriter; her most recent was 2015’s ‘Hysteria.’ McPhee’s role as Paige on ‘Scorpion’ continues into a fourth season, which will begin this fall.
