Producer/writers Ali Adler and Liz Brixius have listed their home in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood. The duo is asking $4.25 million for the Cape Cod-style home, which they purchased in the spring of 2014 for $3.295 million.

A construction dating to 1941, the classic Cape is currently presented in a soft shade of grey. The elegantly simple exterior is shingled and sided, and features a series of dormer windows, a center chimney, and a steep-pitched roof.

The interior holds more than one surprise, and many indications of careful and artful design, and excellent craftsmanship. The floors are original pegged oak, with lovely grain, and a renovation has added recessed light fixtures to provide balance for all the period charm. Walls and ceilings are off-white, offering a great deal of reflected light from the oversized windows.

What’s particularly charming about the home is the wealth of individual touches: brick, hand-hewn beams and supports, stone, tile are all used for expression. The kitchen features tile counter backsplashes in a striking shade of green, a wonderful contrast with the butcher-block countertops, while an accent wall of exposed brick transitions to Saltillo in the airy solarium. The foyer sets up a dramatic contrast with black tongue-in-groove and whitewashed brick, which is picked up in the staircase and carried to the second floor.

Additionally, sets of French doors open to the exterior or provide interior transitions. Light is paramount in the design, giving the built-in breakfast nook, or the skylit shower in the master bath, the same optimistic appeal as the sunroom. Quite a lovely home.
