Pagani’s newest model is a striking one-off, another in a line of single-edition Zonda models which have appeared now and then for some years. The F1-styled vision in carbon fiber is called the Zonda Fantasma Evo, and it’s essentially the same car as the 760 Fantasma, but extensively rebuilt. The Fantasma, in turn, was originally a Zonda F which had been damaged in an accident. Hence the ‘Evo’ in the name, for evolution of the car, and the model, too.
The Fantasma’s owner wanted, among other changes, a manual gearbox, and Pagani obliged by outfitting the car with a 6-speed transmission. The car also received a new bonnet, and a return to black wheels, with which the original Zonda had been outfitted.
The Fantasma Evo keeps the understated shade of maroon which graced the Fantasma, as well as the Zonda Tricolore’s suggestion of the colors of the Italian flag on the car’s hood, but it did gain the side racing stripes in red. The owner wanted the interior cosmetics altered, as well, and Pagani fulfilled his wishes with a black execution, including a set of racing seats.
The engine remains the same Mercedes-AMG M120 naturally aspirated 7.3L V12 engine installed in other 760-series Zonda models, delivering 760 horsepower and nearly 600 lb-ft of torque.
The Fantasma Evo supplants last year’s one-off 760 OLIVER Evolution as the last Zonda to emerge from Pagani.
