Jimmy Butler is moving out of Chi-town lock, stock and barrel. Newly traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the tenacious shooting guard—who spent his first six seasons as a professional player with the Chicago Bulls—has listed his 10,000 square foot mansion in the River North neighborhood outside the city’s downtown. Butler purchased the home in the summer of 2015, for $4.3 million, down from a $4.6 million asking price.
Built in 2008—or renovated then—the home features a half dozen bedrooms, and seven baths, all told: three half and four full. Boasting some unique interior architecture, and a full menu of amenities, the residence is a luxurious addition to the Chicago market.
With stone or hardwood floors, the occasional ornamental flourish in ceiling design, a great deal of wood, and a very low-key tone palette, the home is a pretty traditional take on upscale living. At its best, the home offers charming details—a stacked stone fireplace, soft arches, the luxurious master bath swathed in marble.
Offering a wood-ensconced home office with a coffered ceiling, a billiards room, a wet bar, a 75-bottle wine cellar, and a media room along its four stories, and an elevator and staircase to wander between them, the house is capped with a rooftop deck offering a fireplace, lounge areas, a pergola, and good views of downtown.
Butler, a three-time NBA All-Star with immense talent and a heart to match, was traded to the Timberwolves last month. He signed a five-year, $95 million contract with the Bulls in 2015.
