Former Anaheim Duck Dustin Penner has accepted an offer of $1.9 million on his home in Newport Beach. The retired forward listed the home for the first time in the summer of 2015, and the property had been on-and-off the market since, seeing a couple of price cuts along the way. Penner got his final asking price for the home, and purchased it in 2008 for $1.875 million.
Featuring water views from its rooftop deck, and a façade that riffs a little on the Cape Code style, the home’s exterior features a second-floor balcony, three sets of French doors, an ornamental window, and a recessed entry, capitalizing on the location with a cottagey design.
The construction dates to 2008, and the home’s interior lines and layout are clean and modern. The atmosphere is set by an abundance of wood, with the plank floors finished fairly dark, and off-white walls and ceilings providing some ballast with reflected light. Ceilings are thoroughly modern: pocketed or vaulted, and with recessed lighting.
The house measures a little more than 2,100 square feet, but has very good flow. The kitchen is appealingly open, and the large center island gives it a pronounced focus in the open-concept living area. Built-ins, shiplap cabinetry, and beige granite countertops are nice touches; the tones give the room a sedate ambience, which may come across as a little dated, or a little nostalgic.
All bedrooms are en-suite, with one featuring a turreted alcove as a reading nook or small sitting room. The master features a vaulted ceiling, soaking tub, twin vanity, and rain shower.
The rooftop deck provides some exterior living space, with a hot tub and lounge area.
During his professional career, Penner took home the Stanley cup twice: with the Ducks in 2007, and the L.A. Kings in 2012.
