Selling his way definitively out of the Southern California residential milieu, Tom Jones has accepted $11.28 million for his Beverly Hills home, and a property adjacent to it which he owned as a privacy buffer. The Welsh-born crooner purchased the house about two decades ago for $2.65 million; it had been listed at $8 million in April of this year.

A pastel-colored villa, the home makes a first impression of ebullient chutzpah, and features a courtyard fountain suggesting a love of both the mythological and the ornate.

The interiors bear this out immediately: the foyer features a grand, sweeping staircase which rises to a second-floor gallery, and is decorated with leopard-skin carpet. The floor of the foyer is finished with marble tile, but plank hardwood graces much of the rest of the home, including the formal dining room and living room on the first floor. A fireplace with a limestone mantel provides the centerpiece for the living room, and the downstairs generally.

The second-floor gallery features an illuminated ceiling pocket, and flows into the bedrooms. The master suite is bright and expansive, and features its own fireplace with stone mantel, as well as a private sitting room, and a bath with inlaid tile which is centered by a soaking tub. The master features a private balcony with access from both bedroom and bathroom. There are five bedroom and seven baths in all throughout the 8,150 square foot home.

The property exterior features a traditional swimming pool with sunlounge and elevated spa, patios, and formally landscaped grounds. The houselot extends to half an acre, and features a large, park like lawn.

Last month Jones began an extensive worldwide tour last month. The entertainer’s acting credits include a 2014 BBC Wales adaptation of Welshman Dylan Thomas’ play ‘Under Milk Wood’; Jones played Captain Cat.
