Actor Josh Hartnett—most recently recognizable as a six-gun toting myth hunter in Showtime’s celebration of tropes and pastiche ‘Penny Dreadful’—has listed his loft in Tribeca for $4.25 million. Hartnett picked up the property in 2004, for $2.4 million.

Listed as a one bedroom with two baths, the penthouse loft features southerly and western exposures, and interior architecture which is unassuming and tasteful; whitewashed brick, support pillars, and plank hardwood floors give the space a timeless feel, and LED accent lighting brings in a little 21st century atmosphere. The ornamental pocket ceiling—backlit—adds some visual interest to the room, and a steel spiral staircase and skylight offer some beguiling charm.

The design emphasis is generally on wood grain, though, with walnut cabinetry and built-ins offset against the maple floors. The kitchen is up to date, with marble countertops and an island in the current fashion, and copper-toned pendant lighting. All appliances are top-flight, and the apartment features electric shades for the lengthy stretch of windows which define the outside walls.

The spiral staircase leads to the rooftop deck, which measures a little less than 950 square feet. Interior spaces may be estimated to total at around 1500 square feet. Views of Manhattan from the deck are impressive.

Aside from his role as Ethan in the series ‘Penny Dreadful,’ Hartnett never seems to be at a loss for film parts. He plays the male lead in the upcoming ‘Oh, Lucy!’; the film is due in theaters this year.
