At 700 horsepower, the new Porsche GT2 RS turned a few heads at the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday.

The grand tourer means business: packing a modified version of the 3.8L flat-six that rumbles beneath the hood of the 911 Turbo S, and squeezing an additional eighty horsepower from its larger turbochargers, the GT2 RS can hot-foot it to 60 in 2.7 seconds. Water-injection intercoolers help manage the additional heat generated by the larger turbos, and a titanium exhaust system improves airflow.

The car has a blistering top speed of 211 MPH, which is plenty fast barring deployable wings. No manual transmission is offered, but Porsche’s dual-clutch seven-speed PDK gearbox offers the transition times behind the fleet 0-60 performance.

The GT2 RS is equipped with four-wheel steering for improved agility, and aerodynamic improvements in the form of intakes, outlets and the wild rear spoiler channel air and improve downforce, striking an effective balance between stability and forward thrust.

The cabin interior of the GT2 RS is executed in Alcantara, black leather, and lots of gloss carbon fiber. Tech is of course up-to-date, with Porsche’s most recent infotainment package.

For the truly track-minded, Porsche offers the GT2 RS in a Weissach package; the Weissach is the Porsche testing grounds, and the package doesn’t skimp on the racing flourishes. A huge amount of carbon fiber replaces existing components, and the rear seat gets lost in favor of a roll cage, all of which helps to drop the weight by 40 pounds. Other variations include magnesium wheels traded out for the standard units, and racing-aesthetic cosmetics.

Porsche is currently taking orders for the GT2 RS. Base sticker: $293K, or $324K with the Weissach racing package.
