Actress Kristen Wiig recently sold her home in Los Feliz. The house fetched $2 million for the SNL alum, who purchased the home in 2013, for $1.76 million. The property had been listed at $2.395 million prior to the sale, and it had been on the market for only about three months.

The midcentury home dates to the late 1940’s, and features modern and contemporary design features. It’s presented dramatically, with a black-on-white façade, and the scheme carries through to the interior, setting up a fundamental sense of contrast which is relieved by the plank hardwood floors and the home’s abundant interior/exterior flow. A wall of Fleetwood doors opens graciously and broadly to the second-floor terrace, extending the common living area.

The home measures a little more than 2,700 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. All bedrooms are en-suite. The home also incorporates a gallery entrance, a nifty, colorful kitchen, a sauna, a pair of fireplaces with imposing black surrounds, and a family room with brown wallpaper in a slightly garish pattern.

Overall, the home is very atmospheric, but the heady moodiness of the interiors are nicely balanced by the continuity with the outside world which is offered so frequently. The master bedroom is marvelously simple, and has a good sense of airy space which is carried off by a private terrace and glass doors.

Never at a loss for work, Wiig appears in the upcoming film by Darren Aronofsky, ‘mother!’, which is scheduled for release in October. The highly anticipated film also stars Jennifer Lawrence; the poster leaked last month presents a terrifying vision of maternal sacrifice.
