Bel Air Mansion of Late Comic Harvey Korman, of ‘Carol Burnett Show’ Fame, Sells for $14M

Harvey Korman’s home in Bel-Air recently sold, fetching just under $14 million. The estate had been on the market for about a year, and was initially listed at $20 million. Korman—a post-vaudevillian with a gift for infectiously ‘breaking’ his typically straight-man characters on the Carol Burnett Show—passed away in 2008.

The sprawling Mediterranean dates to 1976, and sprawls amid a lot that spans 2.3 acres. The house measures 7,000 square feet, and contains six bedrooms and six baths. It offers views of greater Los Angeles to the Pacific, as well as Nile Niami’s absurd, half-a-bil under construction spec mansion called the ‘One,’ which the developer hopes will be perceived as nearly as expansive.

Interior shots of the Korman estate are hard to come by, which is a shame, as it may well be razed by a developer and replaced with one or more new houses. But a tennis court, a large motor court, and columns, terraces with stone balustrades, and a tiled patio with a pool and spectacular views are visible in the photo below.

It’s hard to imagine Tim Conway without Korman, or any 1970’s Mel Brooks film (aside from ‘Young Frankenstein’) without his inspired comic villainy. He also did some television directing in the 1970’s and 1980’s, including 31 episodes of ‘Mama’s Family.’  He took home a Golden Globe in 1975.
