After well over a year on the market, Gwyneth Paltrow has finally seen her Tribeca penthouse into a definitive sale. The actress and businesswoman wound up selling the place for $10.7 million; it had been listed prior to the sale at $9.95 million, but had been initially listed at $14.25 million, seeing its first price chop to $12.85 million after only about a month on the market. It was then strategically pulled for the winter, before appearing on the market again this past March to take advantage of an anticipated spring fever in the real estate market.
The sale comes hot on the heels of the appearance on the market of Paltrow and ex Chris Martin’s other notable Tribeca residential investment, the top four floors of a townhouse, listed for $17 million about two weeks ago.
As for the penthouse in question, it was renovated under Paltrow’s ownership by Roman and Williams, a team known for fantastical film set design as well as home interiors. The overwhelmingly bright space is rendered almost entirely in white, with walls of windows and a couple of very well placed skylights allowing the entry of plenty of natural light.
Measuring nearly 4,000 square feet—the interior spaces come to 3,892—the home begins with a lengthy gallery, and moves on to three en-suite bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Carefully rendered, the home’s unique design features include a hand-painted floral pattern, a custom-made pressed-tin ceiling, and a spectacular kitchen in tile, marble, and stainless. A little bit of a purity complex going on in the overall vision, but the craftsmanship is remarkable.
The exterior of the penthouse features long and fairly broad terraces which measure an additional 500 square feet. There’s a little earthiness evident in this outdoor living space, with brick and weathered wood giving the home some much needed warmth.
Paltrow’s most recent film work is in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’; the film is set for wide release early next month.
