Julia Roberts Scoops up Another Point Dume Property for $3.9M

Clearly with an extensive renovation or outright rebuild in mind, Julia Roberts has picked up a unique fixer-upper in Point Dume which could make for a very sound investment, or a pleasant guest retreat. Roberts purchased the ranch for $3.9 million. It’s small, and it doesn’t look like much, but it sits on about an acre of land, and includes a private footpath to Little Dume beach.

A 1950’s anachronism amid the quiet Point Dume architectural refinement and sylvan landscape, the house looks a little forlorn; listing information lacks interior shots, focusing instead on the exterior of the property and the possibilities contained in the lot. The house measures about 1,620 square feet, and is a blue clapboard structure with brick patios and walks. A detached garage is also on the property.

The lot size is the real appeal, though, and although there is a nice little stone wall on the property, the lawns and grounds have been allowed to go to seed. The house may eventually be a guest property for Roberts and husband Daniel Moder, as the couple already owns a pair of linked properties in Point Dume.

Never one to be out of the real-estate columns for long, Roberts’ acquisitions and sales are regularly covered. Last year she sold an estate on Kauai for $16 million; the property had been on the market for over a year at that time, and had been listed initially at some $30 million, although she had purchased it for $13 million. In 2015, the couple off-loaded a PacPal Spanish revival bungalow and a penthouse in Greenwich Village.
