Musician Ryan Tedder has listed a contemporary home in Beverly Hills for sale. The gifted songwriter and his wife Genevieve are asking $12.75 million for the property; Tedder purchased the home in 2013, for a little less than $7.5 million.
It’d be hard going finding an example of the mid-century contemporary more textbook in appearance. The Trousdale house dates to 1959, and saw an extensive restoration about two years ago which extended the living area, but left the period spirit intact. The home’s exterior features the preoccupation with overt geometric form, and blends wood accents with whitewash and a great deal of glass.
Most interesting design features of the home include a common living area with a curved accent wall finished with an inset gas fireplace, an extravagant ornament from the period; a wet bar picks up the arched motif, providing perhaps the only soft angles in the home. Otherwise, accents and flourishes come in the form of planar lines that suggest intersection or balance.
Floors are wide-plank and finished on the pale side, and skylights and retractable glass walls give the home a heady feeling of liberation. In a noteworthy example, an interior family room and exterior lounge space and fire feature echo one another.
Entirely contemporary, with fittings, fixtures and center island quite up-to-date, and a skylight and open concept allowing for a terrific sense of space, the renovated kitchen was really well executed in the renovation.
The house works five bedrooms and six baths into its 5,385 square feet. The master suite features a private sitting area, and a master bath which has been renovated with an eye to the Eastern influence which weaves in and out of the interior and exterior of the home.
The property exterior includes private bedroom terraces, outdoor lounge and dining area, pool and spa, and landscaped plantings.
Tedder is the frontman of OneRepublic, but is better known in the industry as a songwriter and producer with a natural feel for an effective hook. He’s won four Grammy awards, two for producing and co-penning hit tracks by natural vocal talent Adele.
