L’Epée 1839 and Fiona Kruger have collaborated to create a unique new wall clock known as Vanitas.
Historic Swiss watch and clockmaker L’Epee 1839 shows off the considerable technical prowess of their craftspeople with its skull-shaped creation. Independent watch company Fiona Kruger Timepieces helped to develop the uniquely intricate design.
Inspired by 1600s skull art, the clock is available is two versions, one with color and one in shades of black and white.
The Vanitas Yawning Skull Wall Clock’s grandest feature is its yawning mouth. As the clock loses power, Vanitas’ mouth begins to open in a yawn, notifying the owner that it’s time to wind up the mechanism again.
The internal mechanisms are quite impressive, with a special movement based on a L’Epée’s five-barrel movement. It boasts a 35-day power reserve.
Only 50 examples of each clock will be created, so interested buyers should move quickly if they’d like Vanitas hanging in their own home.
