In a perfect world, users will never need their security camera footage. However, video surveillance offers peace of mind, and the new Nest Cam IQ is a great option.
Nest’s new home security camera features a six-core processor and a 4K recording sensor. These technological upgrades mean the camera is able to recognize familiar faces, which is particularly helpful for parents waiting to see if their kids have gotten home safely from school; ‘Person alerts’ can be sent to a smartphone via the Nest app. Cam IQ is also able to automatically switch to the high detail of 4K when it detects unusual activity or an unfamiliar presence.
The home security camera also features a built-in speaker so users can check in with pets or frighten intruders. Created for indoor use only, each camera records in 1080p, and users can view streamed video easily with a subscription to Nest Aware.
Nest’s newest home security device is available for $300.
