A historical Los Angeles home is now on the market. The Hollywood estate once belonging to filmmaker Roland West is available to purchase for $6 million.

Located in the Castellammare area of Pacific Palisades, the unique home is the location of one of L.A.’s most notorious mysteries. The Spanish Revival-style house is where actress Thelma Todd was found dead.

On the market for the first time in decades, the hillside estate overlooks the ocean and is fittingly known as Castillo del Mar. Nathaniel Coleman designed the 1927-built, multilevel home, and it still maintains many of the original period details like detailed millwork, original art deco tiles, and hand-burnished redwood beams.

Hand-crafted details abound. Classic elements like stained glass windows, peg-and-groove oak floors, and an arched fireplace with a stone surround add to the home’s uniquely bohemian aesthetic.

In 1935, Todd was found slumped over the front seat of her convertible in the garage. Although ruled a suicide, the event was especially notable since West was married and had been seen with several injuries following the discovery of Todd’s body. In essence, it’s the perfect home for a mystery maven.
