A four-floor Tribeca townhouse apartment which once belonged to ex-married couple Chris Martin and Gwenyth Paltrow has surfaced on the market. The West Village digs were purchased by the couple in 2005, for $7.9 million; they sold the place in 2009, for $13.6 million.

The quadruplex Paltrow and Martin called home is being offered concurrently with its downstairs neighbor, the ground floor apartment. As a reformed five-floor townhouse, the property is listed for $23.5 million, but the upper living space the duo occupied is priced at $16.995 million.

The Harrison Street building measures a stout twenty-four feet in width, and measures a little less than 12,000 square feet overall. The four floors in question come to 8,440 square feet, though. The first-floor unit, which measures about 3,440 square feet, is available at $6.5 million.

The four-floor unit is as spectacular a blend of charm and modernity as we’ve seen of late. An effective blend of glass, modern design, and earth tones and natural materials, the space blends brick, slate, natural-finished and dark-finished hardwood, built-ins, stainless, skylights and youthful design elements to offset its high ceilings with an acute sense of life, and lend classic New York cosmopolitan taste and credibility to the interiors. The building is serviced by an elevator.

The home’s master suite constitutes much of the second floor, and includes a fireplace (one of two in the unit, and three in the building), large master bath with vintage fixtures, and soaking tub. But the fifth floor atrium may be the most beautiful space in the place.

Paltrow’s last film was 2015’s ‘Mortdecai.’ Singer and guitarist Martin co-founded Coldplay; the band continues to record and tour, supporting their 2015 release ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ on the road until October of this year.
