It wasn’t too long ago that the Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet was revealed at the recent 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Sadly, for fans of the—dare we say—jeep-looking SUV, all 99 examples of the vehicle have already been sold.
All of the G650 Landaulets sold out within weeks after the model was unveiled in Geneva. The car’s nearly $710,000 asking price wasn’t enough to slow the smitten.
The Mercedes-Maybach SUV is powered by an AMG-sourced 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine that pumps out 621 horsepower and offers an impressive 737 pound-feet of torque. It also comes with 100-percent differential locks.
The seats have been borrowed from the Mercedes S-Class, meaning they come with calf rests, massage settings, and can fully recline for times the driver and passengers want to lounge while the vehicle is parked.
An interesting note is the cabin design of the G 650 Landaulet: a hard shell roof covers the driver and front passenger, but leaves the two rear seats of the four-seat vehicle either uncovered or covered by a soft electronically retractable fabric.
While many believed this might spell the end of the G-Class, Mercedes has confirmed that the G 650 Landaulet is just another fine example of the series. The German automaker will surely make Gs until the model’s 40th anniversary in 2019, and more than likely beyond that.
