Bon Jovi’s latest album is called ‘This House Is Not for Sale’, but frontman Jon’s willing to make an exception.
Rocker Jon Bon Jovi’s listing of a condo in the West Village marks the second New York City property the rocker hopes to part with in the space of two years. Bon Jovi sold a Soho penthouse in 2015 for $34 million; the property had been initially listed in 2013 with an asking price of $42 million. He’s looking for $17.25 million for this most recent listing, and is certainly hoping that he won’t have to accept an offer 20% under the asking this time around.
The building dates to 2013, and incorporates 33,000 square feet of landscaped area into the design, and its industrial brick aesthetic fits nicely into the historical appeal of the West Village. It is one of the more desirable buildings in Manhattan.
Bon Jovi’s unit is a 4,030 square foot duplex containing three bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Its terrace—green, as all the building’s terraces are—measures nearly 1,800 square feet, and is accessible from the various points on the main floor. It’s a nice effect, working a bit of backyard into the space, with raised beds for a small garden and a couple of smaller trees or shrubs.
The apartment’s interiors are sparingly decorated, following through with the Eastern influence suggested by the merging of green and living space. There’s a good deal of wood grain against off-white, with wood finishes ranging from darkish to fairly natural.
The foyer is double-height, against a plane of windows, for a good sense of expanding space, with the staircase to the master suite immediately accessible upon entering. A master terrace opens from the bedroom, and there are a trio of guest rooms on the second floor as well.
Bon Jovi’s Soul Foundation continues to expand its humanitarian interests; in 2014, the foundation and Project HOME opened the JBJ Soul Homes in Philadelphia, a four-story building which offers affordable housing as well as offices related to employment services, basic medical care and educational opportunities.
