Diamond Aircraft has come out with its new DA50-V. The plane is the most modern and efficient single-engine piston aircraft in its range.
The DA50-V has been equipped with a Garmin G1000 NXi, and GFC700 autopilot. The plane also comes with an above-average low fuel burn.
Diamond offers its DA50 line in three variations: the four-seat, 230-horsepower DA50-IV, the five-seat 260-HP DA50-V, and the seven-seat DA50-VII, offered with a jet-fuel piston, gasoline, or turbo-propeller engine. But, of the three, the DA50-V gets highest markets for efficiency.
The engine of the DA50-V is a SAFRAN/SMA unit that burns just 6.8 gallons of fuel per hour of flight at 50 percent. Test flights have shown a maximum altitude of 20,000 feet and a max range of 1,020 miles.
Diamond Aircraft expects certification of the DA50-IV and the DA50-V to be completed in 2018. Buyers of the DA50 line have the option of a custom paint job. However, it probably won’t be quite as flashy as the DA50-V that Diamond Aircraft showed off at the AERO Friedrichshafen 2017, which boasted an airbrushed design from renowned European artist Knud Tiroch.
