Marc Newson, one of the designers of the Apple Watch, has designed a beautiful, albeit more analog, spin on a classic timekeeper: the hourglass.

Newson paired with Hodinkee to handcraft the Marc Newson Hourglass, which is made from hand-blown borosilicate glass, otherwise known as Pyrex. The piece comes with a leather coaster for display.

“Sometimes you see an object and it just captivates you. You can’t look away. You can’t even really explain what you’re looking at either. Marc Newson’s Hourglass is one such object,” says Hodinkee’s blog post.

Newson’s homage to the roots of timekeeping isn’t filled with regular sand, though. Instead, stainless steel Nanoballs covered in copper—1.3 million to be exact—are guaranteed to measure out exactly 10 minutes. Now, that’s technology that will never fail.

Available in a limited run of 100 units, the Marc Newson Hourglass is priced at $12,000.
