This may be the most spectacular Rolls Royce custom automobile we’ve seen yet. Called the Mayfair Edition, the limited edition take on the Dawn model is the product of a collaboration between leading British luxe car dealer H.R. Owen, and the pragmatic dreamers in West Sussex.
A convertible clad in burnished metallic finish Rolls calls Berwick Bronze, and bearing the stamp of a copper dashboard, copper accents on the arctic white leather seat bullets, copper speaker grilles, and badges that identify the vehicle as a Mayfair edition car.
The Dawn model was introduced a couple of years ago, and is a modern, but incredibly, gracefully evocative culmination of Rolls history. The front end bears the imposing grille, but lines are smooth and fluid, and the drophead design has a youthful appeal.
The Mayfair gets the Dawn’s production engine, a 6.6L V12 leviathan that’ll pump out 565 horsepower. The car is marketed toward the 30-odd set, with Rolls calling it the ‘sexiest’ car they’ve ever produced, and it’s hard to argue, as it’s considerably gentler in overall design, and bears some truly beautiful design flourishes. It retails in the American marketplace for about $350K.
There have been other bespoke Dawn models, of course; customized vehicles command an at least 25% premium over standard models, and comprise an overall 20% share of Rolls-Royce’s contemporary sales. Among the prettier bespoke Dawn examples is the Dusk Until Dawn at Porto Cervo, finished in the color of the Italian Emerald Coast, and the Palm Springs Edition Dawn, also a droptop.
