The CEO of Morgan Creek Productions James Robinson is selling an estate in Bel-Air. The producer is looking for $23.95 million for the property, which he purchased in the early 1990’s, for $2.5 million.

A strident colonial revival-style dating to the mid 1930’s, the home looks classically Hollywood of the era: imposing, grandiose, symmetrical, and set off nicely by measured landscaping. The two-story portico entrance is grounded by four ionic columns, features a sheltered second story balcony, and an arched front entrance.

Within, the spaces of the five bedrooms, six bath main residence are bright, the layout is classic and somewhat compartmentalized, and period features charm the eye everywhere. The floors are inlaid hardwood, typically in a herringbone or parquet pattern, oak with what appears to be walnut accents. Tile was used in the kitchen and family room/entertainment room, where a full-sized bar is situated perpendicular to a picture window.

The home’s formal dining room features a fairly busy chandelier, a set of double doors, and a segmented picture window with a view to the backyard fountain and pool. The living room features a second chandelier, a simple fireplace with a stone mantel and hearth step; there are an additional three fireplaces within the home. The kitchen is dated, but very large and open.

The house is situated on about an acre of land, and the property features a large brick patio, an Olympic-size pool, and a gazebo. A generously proportioned guest house—sporting three bedrooms—is also on the property.

James Robinson’s productions include films ‘The Last of the Mohicans’ and ‘The Good Shepherd.’ His production ‘All Eyez on Me’ is due in theaters next month.
