Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse recently accepted an offer of $3.45 million for their residence in the quiet Beverly Crest neighborhood. The actress and TV personality had owned the property for about five years, having purchased it for $2.5 million in 2012.

A fairly unremarkable ranch-style, the home is set behind gates, with a façade distinguished by a fieldstone chimney. The fieldstone fireplace within, situated in the family room, is one of two in the home; a second fireplace, also of fieldstone, offers outdoor ambiance, while a third of whitewashed brick, and with a white hardwood mantel, is located in the living room.

The house’s interiors make fine use of the spaces, carrying off a very comfortable but cosmopolitan overall effect. Wood floors are finished very warm, lines are influenced by modern and cottage styles, and ceilings features exposed beams and tongue-in-groove; in the upstairs office, an open-trussed ceiling with exposed rafters below gives the house an overt rusticity, while the crown moldings in the master bedroom recall Victorian design flourishes.

The common living spaces aren’t open concept, but kitchen, day room, living room, and dining room flow in a pleasant and easy progression, with abundant glass giving the spaces a good sense of interior/exterior continuation. The kitchen is basically cottage-style, with subway tile, a nice balance of warm and cool accent tones, and a wood-capped island with a pair of requisite industrial-influenced pendants overhead.

The property exterior features a freeform pool, patio, and some gently landscaped greenery.

Smart’s films include 2001’s ‘Scotland, PA,’ which brought a Shakespearean tragedy of royal ambition into a contemporary diner; Smart played a hip witch. She will appear in the upcoming ‘Mississippi Requiem,’ based on several stories by William Faulkner, but it is unknown at this time which Yoknapatawpha County tales are being covered.
