Condé Nast Chairman Jonathan Newhouse Asking $7M for Stunning Manhattan Penthouse

Condé Nast CEO Jonathan Newhouse has listed this Manhattan penthouse for sale. The media mogul is asking a shadow under $7 million for the residence, which is located in the Gordon Building on 29th. Newhouse and his wife, ad exec Ronnie Newhouse, purchased the property in 2005, for $3.38 million.

The Gordon dates to 1913. The 12-story building is green, and located off Park Ave. South. The penthouse measures 3,400 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The private terrace adds an additional 1,400 square feet to the total living area.

Interiors by Daniel Romualdez comprise a slick, tastefully adventurous pastiche. The kitchen is institutional, tones and textures in the living areas and bedrooms are combined rakishly, and an iron spiral staircase is the duplex’s centerpiece. Floors are white oak throughout, and the 11-foot ceilings incorporate some pleasing lines.

The second floor of the penthouse contains a glass-walled refuge with window seating, living area, and remarkable city views; the remainder of the level is given over to the terrace, which incorporates a tiered design, and spans the length of the building.

With Newhouse at the helm, Condé Nast has grown as an international media presence, bringing editions of Vanity Fair, GQ and others to new audiences in other countries. Since the early 1990’s, the company’s list of titles has grown four-fold.
