Satirist Ron White has listed his home in Georgia. The comedian—best known for his role on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour—is currently asking $2.4 million for the Suwanee property, which has been on and off the market for several years, and was initially listed in 2009, for $3.5 million.
Mixing colonial and plantation styles, the home’s reliance on regional tropes and formality means it is familiar ground. But it’s well executed, and bears the hallmarks of excellent craftsmanship.
Measuring a little more than 13,000 square feet, the home is certainly a heroic attempt at comprehensive residential design. There are six bedrooms and nine full or partial baths across the interior living spaces. The home contains a whopping ten fireplaces, which might possibly be considered overkill in the Deep South, but also indicates a desire to create a very definite atmosphere.
There’s a pretty good survey of interior architecture represented by the weight of all the ornament contained in the house. Columns, inlaid marble floors and hardwood floors, neoclassical flourishes, Edwardian-inspired light fixtures, recessed ceilings with moldings, carved wood fireplace mantels, mahogany paneling, brick and natural stone. Jam-packed might be the phrase.
The home works a nifty billiards room and bar into a lower level; stone, lantern pendants, and wood grain is the rule. A home cinema offers tiered seating. There’s a walk-in humidor, too, of course.
The .8 acre lot incorporates sandstone patios, an attached pergola, an outside kitchen and fireplace, and a lagoon-style saltwater pool which is quite convincing.
Ron White continues to perform to sold-out crowds. But The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which launched his success, is long disbanded.
