Professional soccer player Landon Donovan had his unit at L.A. Live listed for only a week before he had an offer in hand. The former player for the L.A. Galaxy had set the asking price for the condo at $1.995 million. Donovan purchased the property in 2012, for a little over $1.5 million.
Situated in the Ritz-Carlton residences, the unit is a 1,920 square foot space containing two bedrooms and three baths. Both bedrooms are en-suite; the master is fairly compact, with a good-sized bath that features marble floors, cherry cabinets and a crystal chandelier.
The common living area is open-concept; bright and airy, it features hardwood floors and lots of glass. The views from the upper floor take in a nice survey of L.A. cityscape, all the way to the Pacific.
The kitchen is also fairly compact, but incorporates a dayroom with an economical use of space. Cabinetry and fittings are modern and unassuming, and the emphasis falls to the view. Tile floors and modern fixtures brook little in the way of nostalgia. As in the rest of the residence, the kitchen is thoroughly modern, and without embellishment. A little spare, but nicely executed.
Landon Donovan was with the L.A. Galaxy from 2007-2014, having signed a contract at the beginning of his tenure which made him the highest paid player in the MLS. He retired in 2014, and returned to the Galaxy for the 2016 season. He is currently retired.
