Talulah Riley recently accepted an offer for her Los Angeles home. The actress took $2.39 million for the property in Bel Air; the asking price prior to the sale had been $2.995 million. Riley purchased the house in 2013, for $1.925 million.
The house is a mid-century modern ranch, and has been renovated extensively. The construction dates to the early 1950’s, and the exterior very much looks the part of the modern-style California ranch of the era, with indoor/outdoor flow offered repeatedly throughout. The interiors ramble across open-concept common living areas, and the renovation has highlighted the dark hardwood and whitewash contrast, a good basis for expression. Fireplaces, portals, and ceilings in the common spaces favor the abstraction of strident lines and a lack of embellishment.
The two guest room baths, on the other hand, have been renovated so that each offers an individual statement in dramatically contrasted mosaic tile; the look is a little busy, as mosaic tile gives the eye a lot of apparent motion to deal with, but the nifty combination of 1950’s homage and contemporary, postmodern riffing on familiar surfaces is a cool effect. There are three bedrooms and four baths, all told, across the 2,505 square feet of interior living space.
Notable features include a two-way fireplace dividing the kitchen and dining area, and living area, and a steam shower in the master bath. The property exterior features a deck with small pool.
Talulah Riley’s appearance in the first season of the HBO series ‘Westworld’ has led to a larger part in the story for the second. The actress has also appeared in the 2010 Christopher Nolan puzzle ‘Inception’, and the 2005 film adaptation of ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
