Unable to sell his Carbon Beach cottage, Leonardo DiCaprio has offered it for lease. The actor is looking for $25K/monthly for the property, which is located on a storied stretch of Malibu coastline.

DiCaprio initially listed the home last September, at $10.95 million, before dropping the price three months later to around $10 million. He purchased the house in 1998, for $1.6 million.

The home dates to the 1950’s, and has the pleasingly eccentric layout and feel of a beach house from the era: open concept common living spaces, cozy bedrooms, and a bohemian atmosphere. It has been extensively renovated, and evokes traditional beach cottage ambiance: white and washed-out pale blue, soft wood, tile, shiplap, weathered two-tier deck. It measures a compact 1,765 square feet, and contains three bedrooms and two baths.

The kitchen may be the heart of the home, with its blue herringbone tile and contrasting marble countertop. It transitions neatly to the dayroom, and the sliding glass doors opening onto the beachfront deck. Throughout, windows and glass doors favor the location. A marble fireplace lends a sense of solidity.

The second floor incorporates a large hardwood deck, and contains a generous amount of lounge space, while remaining intimate. There is a spa installed on the second floor deck. The property exterior features a gated entrance, and a center courtyard.

Leonardo DiCaprio took home an Oscar for his role in ‘The Revenant’; by many accounts, he earned it. DiCaprio’s production credits include last year’s ‘Before the Flood,’ a critically-acclaimed documentary on climate change.
